America's first basilica anchors the edge of downtown at Loring Park, and its Beaux-Arts exterior, the great dome, portico, granite facade, and rose window, is one of the most photographed sights in Minneapolis. It is free to visit. One honest note: the main upstairs church is under restoration and is expected to reopen in spring 2027, so for now you admire the building from the outside while worship continues on the lower level. It pairs naturally with the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, a short walk across the Loring greenway.
