Address: 222 Rep. John Lewis Way S, Nashville, TN 37203
Phone: (615) 416-2001
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is downtown and an easy walk from the honky-tonks. Instruments, stage costumes, Elvis's 1960 Cadillac limousine (with gold-plated highlights and forty coats of paint containing crushed diamonds and fish scales), and the whole through-line of how the songs got written. Give it about two hours. It's the fully sober way to understand why this city sounds the way it does, and a perfect rainy-day or beat-the-heat break from Broadway. Open daily 9AM–5PM.
